This paper discusses the unique advantages of household surveys, the potential complementarity with other data sources, and their limitations. Key findings show that customisable sampling techniques and survey design allow the inclusion of specific sub-groups of the population, including women, to ensure that no one is left behind, and that household survey data provide numerous disaggregation possibilities, of which many are not yet fully exploited.
