Basics of mainstreaming gender into climate change and disaster risk reduction policies
October 2021
In Asia and the Pacific region, gender mainstreaming into climate change and disaster risk reduction policies has been initiated by some lead agencies and governments, but more needs to be done to comply with the international frameworks. While both gender and climate change have been focus issues, the mention of both issues at the same place and at the same time is still uncommon. This paper attempts to address the conundrum of “how” to address gender in climate change and disaster risk reduction through describing several tools, some of which are commonly used and others which may be less well known.
