Earthquakes
An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault and can also refer to the resulting ground shaking and radiated seismic energy caused by the slip, or by volcanic or magmatic activity.
A recent analysis in Haiti showed that earthquakes exacerbate existing gender inequalities and disproportionately impacted women in areas such as access to health services and safe drinking water, food insecurity, increased unemployment, and gender-based violence.
