This webinar provides a unique space for spotlighting and amplifying Pacific gender and DRR work as well as the region’s commitment to achieving the Sendai Framework by 2030. The underlying precept is that Pacific women and girls must be substantively included in all climate change and disaster response in order for stronger and resilient communities to be possible in this time of great loss and damage to the Pacific region, and globally. This online session will therefore provide knowledge-sharing and lessons learnt on community resilience from gender and DRR work carried out by Pacific governments, civil society groups and CROP agencies in partnership and with accompaniment of the UN Women Fiji Multi Country Office.

This webinar is a preparatory webinar for the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, with the theme "From Crisis to Resilience: Transforming the Asia-Pacific Region’s future through disaster risk reduction". It will be hosted by the Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) and Disaster Risk Reduction Programme, UN Women Fiji Multicountry Office. It will be moderated by Ms. Noelene Nabulivou, Executive Director of DIVA for Equality will moderate. Noelene has worked for over 35 years in Gender, Climate change, DRR and Sustainable development from local to global.

The webinar will be conducted via Zoom platform on Tuesday 13 September 2022, 11am-1pm FJT (2 hours).
