Guidance for a Gender-sensitive assessment of natural hazard disaster risks (FR)
December 2025
Risk assessement constitutes a continuous and systematic process that underpins effective risk management. At each stage, it facilitates the identification and analysis of risks and their underlying causes, supports the evaluation of mitigation measures, and enables the ongoing review and refinement of strategies to ensure their effectiveness.
This guide is designed for national authorities, especially disaster management and civil protection agencies. It provides direction for designing projects or programs to conduct National Disaster Risk Assessments (NDRA) for natural hazards, integrating a gender-sensitive perspective. The assessment will inform future national disaster risk management strategies and action plans, supporting resilient development planning for West African countries, with a focus on the Sahel region.
