Gender and Localization: Perspectives and Case Studies from Asia and the Pacific

In the past decade, the Asia-Pacific region has accounted for 41 per cent of all disasters worldwide as well as over 90 per cent of all deaths from disasters. 1 Available statistics in the region and globally show that women, girls and marginalized groups are more likely to die in and be disproportionately impacted by disasters due to pre-existing gender inequalities.
