Policy brief: disasters in the SDGs - a first response to the focus areas proposed by the co-chairs

This note has been drafted as a contribution to the deliberations of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It makes the case that disaster risk reduction must be included in the SDGs and it should be integrated across goals. In addition, it proposes core disaster targets including reducing losses, reducing risk, perceived risk and vulnerability and preventing impoverishment.
