Esther, who works with the Red Cross, is helping communities in Kiribati build forward better.  

She notes:  “as our land is washed by the sea, people started moving inland.  After the last flooding, we built a ‘tebua’ (house on stilts) and we elevated it so that when the flooding comes again, we all come here and sit here and call it our evacuation centre.”
