New Funding Opportunity: WPHF Call for Proposals on Climate Security in the Pacific Region
The United Nations Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is excited to announce the launch of a new Call for Proposals under its Women and Climate Security Initiative for the Pacific region. This funding opportunity is targeted at local women’s rights and women-led civil society organisations (CSOs) in Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. The initiative focuses on projects that address climate security challenges in conflict settings, with an emphasis on amplifying women’s leadership roles in preventing climate-related conflicts and injustices, as well as their involvement in economic and political decision-making processes.
Funding Details
The funding is divided into two main streams:
Programmatic Funding: Amounts ranging from $30,000 to $200,000 are available to support the programmatic activities of CSOs. These funds aim to enhance the meaningful participation and decision-making power of women in conflict prevention and response. Additionally, they support improved socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and young women in peacebuilding contexts.
Institutional Funding: Smaller grants ranging from $2,500 to $30,000 are offered to help reinforce the institutional capacities of women’s rights and women-led organisations. These grants are intended to support organisations working on climate-related conflict prevention and climate-related economic and political decision-making in the Pacific region. The goal is to ensure these organisations can sustain themselves and strengthen their impact over time.
