Storm surges

Storm surges are the result of the rising of sea levels due to low atmospheric pressure. When they coincide with high winds and high tides, they can cause coastal flooding.

During storm surges, strict curfews and lack of access to basic public services put women at more risk of gender-based violence and reduced access to survival resources.
