Multi-stakeholder Plenary: Leave no one behind: Realizing the guiding principles of the Sendai Framework
This plenary will focus on the importance of inclusive leadership and whole-of-society participation in DRR. It will serve as a platform for Governments and stakeholders to report on progress in including diverse perspectives, and the leadership of women, persons with disabilities and youth in formal DRR decision-making and governance structures. Progress on ensuring disaggregated data sets that capture the differential experiences of disaster risk will also be captured.
**Please note that this session will run in 2 parts, with a lunch break taking place between the two sessions. First session: 11:00–12:00 CEST and Second session: 14:00–15:30 CEST on Wednesday 4 June 2025
Guiding Questions:
Delegations are requested to focus their 3-minute intervention in the multistakeholder plenary on the following questions.
- What impact has including diverse perspectives had in reducing disaster risk, particularly for people disproportionately affected by disasters? Can you please give a distinct example from your government’s or organization’s work in this regard?
- How has the guiding principle of the Sendai Framework to integrate a gender, age, disability and cultural perspective into all DRR policies and practices informed national DRR priorities in your country and what has been the impact of this action?
- What progress has been made in ensuring disaggregated datasets (of risk or disaster impact) inform decision-making, and the participation and leadership of women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples and youth are prioritised in the production of data and risk assessment?
