Conference session
TS1-4: Enhanced risk awareness, communication and education for the whole of society
While the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework highlights advancements in risk communication and disaster education, it faces ongoing challenges, particularly at the local level where access to information and preparedness are inadequate and uneven. The session aims to explore how to strengthen risk communication and education by fostering a whole-of-society dialogue, ensuring accessibility for all, and utilizing emerging technologies effectively. The session will share good practices and lessons identified to ensure that risk information is locally relevant, accessible and understood by those who are most at-risk. It will also shed light on how the use of digital platforms such as social media and mobile apps and technology such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence can support effective and inclusive risk communication and education.
