Sweeping Out the Dirt Under the Mat: South-South Conversation Series Session 1

This is the first session in a South-South Conversation Series being hosted by the Feminist Action Nexus for Economic & Climate Justice titled “Accountability is Not a Metaphor.” which will be held on 4 October, 9am-11am FJT.

This catalytic, generative conversation will offer space for radically honest discussion amongst feminist activists, promoting a structural, anti-colonial and intersectional approach to social, economic, ecological and climate justice guided by regional specificities and movement realities. Speakers will unpack the commodification of human rights, development and its (neo)colonial character, towards visions of justice and accountability - of Northern and Southern actors including States and non-State actors, the UN, corporate power and elite capture, and our movements themselves. Led by Pacific feminist activists, the conversation will explore cross-regional imaginings, in this case with African movements, and an eye to the upcoming 27th Conference of Parties (COP) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and beyond.

This is the first session in a South-South Conversation Series being hosted by the Feminist Action Nexus for Economic & Climate Justice titled “Accountability is Not a Metaphor.” The Action Nexus is co-convened by the Women’s Working Group on Financing for Development (WWG FfD); The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET); the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA); and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO).
