Progress and challenges in gender mainstreaming in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction

UN Women co-hosted a side event at the European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (EFDRR).

The session investigated three key priorities including:

1. the extent to which gender considerations are being incorporated DRR policy and practice across Europe;
2. how mainstreaming actions are evolving and whether the new tools and approaches being developed across the region integrate the gender dimensions of disaster risk; and
3. the extent to which this new evidence base and awareness can be reflected in policies, decisions, and investments to develop gender-responsive strategies for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.
