Under the priority theme of the 66th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, UN Women in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) issued a joint policy brief on the intersection of climate change and violence against women and girls. The policy brief provides an overview of linkages between climate change and violence against women and girls, including the increased threats and violence experienced by women environmental human rights defenders.  It also highlights promising practices of policies and programmes to address VAWG in the context of climate change and environmental degradation; and provides a set of recommendations for both environmental and EVAW sectors.

Under the umbrella of the 24-hour Generation Equality Forum side-event convened by UN Women, this virtual event brought together leaders and partners of the Action Coalition on Gender-based Violence and Feminist Action for Climate Justice and experts to share their reflections on the intersection between climate change and gender-based violence.
