This report of the observance of the International Day for Disaster Reduction in Bangladesh, which aimed to highlight women’s participation in disaster risk reduction initiatives, highlights the major activities undertaken by the Bangladesh government to get people prepared and to engage in collaborative work with NGOs in order to build a disaster-resilient community. The activities included: i) a rally at national level; ii) a talk show telecast in MY TV and publication of supplementary in national dailies.
The day was observed on 13th October and celebrated jointly by CMDRR Forum, Bangladesh along with its 13 partners and the Disaster Management Bureau, under the theme “Women and Girls: The Invisible Force of Resilience”.
