Building resilience through inclusive and climate-adaptive disaster risk reduction program

November 2018

Summary of the inception-phase findings and options

Building resilience through inclusive and climate-adaptive disaster risk reduction Asia-Pacific (BRDR) is a five-year program that aims to improve regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate resilience by sharing best practices and tested approaches among countries in the region. The BRDR program puts gender equality, rights-based and pro-poor approaches at the forefront of DRR.

This report describes the overall approach and strategy of the BRDR program by highlighting the foundation on which future work will be built upon, followed by a brief description of the findings of research related to gender equality and human rights. Planned outcomes and workstreams are then summarized, followed by a chapter discussing the monitoring and evaluation framework.

The program is supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and implemented jointly by ADPC, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI).
