September 2020
UN Women with the support from Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) conducted a baseline study on the socio-economic conditions of women in three eco-zones of Bangladesh. The objective was to document the vulnerabilities of women in flood, cyclone, and drought-prone areas in the face of climate change. Findings reinforce studies from other countries that women face more difficulties when exposed to climate change and disasters. Recommendations for this report point to the need for disaster risk reduction and climate change to address the inequalities in the household and the community to lessen women’s vulnerability.
