This publication brings together the findings from the "Gender in Community Based Disaster Management (CBDM)" project, which is funded by the Hyogo Prefectural Government in Japan. It is aimed to serve as the first step for government officials, researchers, and the general public to examine the issues of gender, economy, environment and disasters, and spread good practices, so that we may be able to create communities that are sustainable and well prepared for disasters.
